For those of you who don't know, I am a pretty big card gamer so far, and pretty much tried everything from Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Digimon Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, and Yugioh. Well, Over time, I had pretty much stuck to Yugioh since it was the more popular game played at my college, and it helped fill in the time when there were'nt any tests or papers due.

That said, I felt that ever since the XYZ cards (Or Exceed as people liked to call them) came out, the game kinda felt self destructive. To add insult to injury, I see so few decks that dominate the tournaments, some of which valuing up to a few hundred dollars, like the Windups and Inzectors did. I remember one windup card used to value up to 120 dollars, and it did'nt even need to be played from the deck, but by having 2 level 3 cards on the field. With so many different kinds of cards that allow players to spam the field, it just makes it too easy to overwhelm another player in just one or two turns.

Then Cardfight Vanguard hit the scene. They had new concepts added to the game that balances the use of cards both in the hand and on the field. If you have too many cards in your hand, then you won't have much field presence to attack. Have too little and you can't guard from your opponent's attacks. Not only that, but it forces both players to walk on a razor's edge by utilizing the damage they take as energy to perform certain abilities. This was something Yugioh never thought of, as most abilities don't have much cost unless its a card discarded or simply by having another card present.

I have not seen any particular deck dominate over others, where in yugioh its all about the archetypes, Vanguard plays by having 'clans' in their deck, and where they don't have traps or spells, they have 'trigger' cards activated with the vanguard attacks or takes damage.
